I am from the Kansas City area. I have been working with a realtor here, but was looking over craigslist for homes (sometimes they have ones not on the MLS system.) I saw an ad written by Kerry with Skidmore Realtors, even though she didn't tell me she was a realtor at first. I wanted to view the come, which was over 2 1/2 hours away (I am self employed and litterally am looking in a 500 mile radius.) It was a sunday, and Kerry said she could show me. I told her I was working with a realtor, but would love to see the home that day if she was willing to show it as the selling realtor, and she agreed. We went to make an offer, and when our realtor, who has shown us over 20 homes, contacted Kerry with Skidmore, she tried to take our realtors commission, refusing to pay her a commission as our realtor, but just a referral fee. Well...I will not buy a home at the expence of a good person, so I withheld our offer. Understand, this property has been on the market for over 3 years! So the home owners, who want to relocate to Florida, are stuck with their home because their realtor chased away CASH buyers! That's right...no load to approve, no hassel, we were paying cash! Not only is it unethical...it is downright illegal to steal a commission like this! I would recommend NOT using this company...and certainly don't let them show you a home even if you tell them you have a realtor already! Selling a home is more than unlocking a door...it's customer service, it's prompt returning of calls, and most importantly, it is for advise and quick preperation of contract offers! Simply unlocking a home you are supposed to be selling is not a reason to get two commissions! What a snipe!
